  6. How to join the AMPP Intermountain Chapter (Will)

  8. AMPP Scholarship and Member Development
    1. How much, any requirements, and how to decide?
    2. $1,000 for each AMPP Scholarship and Member Development
    3. Scholarship winner will register and pay for the class and than the Intermountain section will reimburse.
    4. Names were put in a hat and drawn out by Pete. Ryan Egbert was the scholarship winner for the Intermountain Chapter.

Conducting Pete Gallus

Meeting was conducted in person at Central Utah Water Conservancy District in Orem, UT and Online via Zoom (https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86423193204?pwd=VGtYRG40ZVUxOFlZR0VmQ2RzOGVGdz09) on June 7th, 2022.

Vendor Booths and Lunch: Special thanks to Pete Gallus with Trenton Corporation and David Moss with RJM Precision for providing booth and Candy Balerio with Mesa Products for providing lunch.

Business Meeting

  1. Review and approval previous meeting minutes (Will) Bank Balance $1,652.28
  2. Introduction of meeting attendees
  3. Plaque for Kelly Crystal (former Chairman)
  4. Election of new officers
  5. Group Discussion
  • Fundraising Events: The Section discussed multiple events for fundraising, but for the interim decided not to pursue any.
  • Corrosion Topic and survey for Future Meetings: The group discussed several ideas for future meeting topics. They included rectifier classes, specific operator trainings, water filtration, coatings, dealing with water after hydrostatic testing, etc. The section discussed options to include topics relative the water industry.
    • Will Garner will send out an online survey for specific topics at the next symposium/section meeting.
  • AMPP Scholarship with specific requirements of engineering, science, corrosion, etc.: The group agreed that the scholarship needs to go to someone studying a corrosion related field.
    • Scholarship timeline will be as follows: June - Section decides if funding is available, August - AMPP Foundation asks if Section would like to award a scholarship, January - Scholarship Application due, Feb-May - Application reviewed and winner selected; June - Section decides if funding is available.
    • This year the section decided not to participate in a scholarship.
  • SW WY UT CP Coordinating Committee, June 30 – Online
  • Other Topics Discussed:
    • Section needs to keep a list of those in the section area that may not be members of AMPP and include them in future invitations for business meetings and symposiums. Additionally, those invited can forward the invitation to other potential attendees.
    • The section would like to hold more break out session and round tables.
  • Next business meeting may be held in January depending on if Sun Valley decides to hold their meeting.
