AMPP SELA College Scholarships
2025-2026 SELA Academic Year Scholarship Information

AMPP Southeast Louisiana Chapter (formerly NACE New Orleans Section) Scholarship Committee accepts applications for the 2025--2026 Academic Year. AMPP Southeast Louisiana qualified members are allowed to sponsor up to two (2) students who are now attending or entering college or university.

Consideration for awards will be based on the funds available (voted upon by the AMPP Board)Members) and the number of applications received. Declared majors in Engineering or Basic Science courses (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Biochemistry, or Mathematics) may be given preference. AMMP STUDENT MEMBERSHIP IS AN IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT.

Application attached below, will be accepted until May 19, 2025. Announcement of the winning nominees will be prior to the AMPP CHAPTER June Meeting. Awards will be distributed at the June Materials Teachers Camp Luncheon Meeting at UNO on June 23rd, 2025

Qualifications for both the AMPP Southeast Chapter Nominating Member (Sponsor) and Candidate are as follows:

1) The sponsor must be a AMPP Southeast Louisiana Chapter member in good standing and a member for at least one full year.

2) The student must be attending college on a full time basis (12 hours/semester) and maintaining a 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA). High School graduates entering college must have a 3.0 GPA. Fulltime Graduate students may also apply..

3) The institution where the student is enrolled must be accredited.

4) All students must send their latest official transcript. High school students must also provide evidence of college acceptance. Additional information that would help the scholarship committee evaluate the candidate, including corrosion research, membership in organizations, and letters of recommendation are encouraged.

Note: Consideration may be given to AMPP Southeast Louisiana Chapter Sponsors who have attended AMPP SELA Chapter monthly meetings or other AMPP SELA events (i.e. Education Events, ASM Teachers’ Materials Camp or other Events)

Awards will be in the form of a check made payable to the school listed in the Application. Checks will be awarded at the June meeting to either the student or sponsor. Selected Scholarships will also be awarded in the names of the following AMPP (NACE) Members:

- The “William M. (Bill) Clark Scholarship” Awarded To The Student Who Is Following A Science Curriculum In Chemistry Or Related Field Of Study

- The “Richard M. (Dick) Dannenberg III Scholarship” Awarded To The Student Who Is Following An Engineering Or Science Curriculum

- The “Lavigne Gatzke Scholarship” Awarded To The Student Who Demonstrates The Best Understanding Of Corrosion And Materials Science

- The “Harry Hanson Scholarship” Awarded To The Student Member Who Contributes Time And Effort To The SEL Chapter

- The “Otis Logue Scholarship” Awarded To The Student Who Demonstrates The Most Leadership Abilities

- The “Dr. Louis D. Vincent Scholarship” Awarded To The Student Who Is Most Closely Following A Curriculum In Corrosion Engineering
